Then I Found $100 - A Funny Story

So if you read the bible at all, you've probably heard this story.

The Parable of the Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10)

“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[a] and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

As I am going through the New Testament with my discipleship girls, we came across this parable.  I actually made fun of it and said "Seriously... if i lost a 'coin' (AKA A LOT OF MONEY) I wouldn't call my friends and neighbors together.'  My girls actually questioned my line of thinking.

The next weekend, as I was looking for something, I found this:

Now, before you start thinking I am rolling around in money, let me explain.

About 3 ish years ago, my dad was in the habit of giving me emergency money. Yes, i am in my 30s and my dad still does that.  Its kinda his charm.  I must of hid it so that I wouldn't spend it... I am not sure what i was thinking really because I didn't know it was missing. Not only was it hidden, it was hidden in plain sight. It was in a Wire Mesh pen holder that sits in our living room.  Broad Daylight people.

I love that I found it not only after reading that story, but also in the midst of low income days.  I only work part time.  In February-May, I received a hefty tax return and I was working odd temp jobs so the income was doing well.  Now, those have slowed down and my budget is getting tighter again.  The money is very much needed.

So in honor of LUKE 15:8-10, I wanted to call my friends and neighbors together and say, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’

  2. Nice! That's so nice that your dad gives you that emergency money and that God brings it to you just at the right time.
