Playing the Tourist - July 4th NYC

Sometimes I love playing tourist in my own city. I don't do it often but when i do, I really do enjoy it.

The last 3 years, my roommate and I have enjoyed the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks on the Hudson River, here in NYC.  We make a day out of it and head down to pier 84, right under the intrepid.  We buy lots of fruits and veggies at Trader Joes and sit in the sun all day awaiting the spectacular that is the Fireworks!

This year my brother and his family joined us for the hottest 4th yet.  It got up to 95 I think.  But in the long run, it was worth it.  The position of the fireworks changed so that we saw all 4 barges which was nice but it meant that we weren't directly underneath them which is a slight bummer.  BUT i am not complaining.

I hope you enjoy

Also, while you are at it, I am guest posting over at CityCorporateToSuburbMama.com.  My dear friend Kristina is featuring me there.  Check it out! Check her out! She's pretty awesome.

  5. Three years in NYC, and I *STILL* haven't seen the 4th of July fireworks because I always end up in Brooklyn. Maybe next year...

  6. Oh my goodness. Beautiful. Absolutely amazing. I'm only 7 hours away and I have NEVER been to NYC. We keep talking about it, but never end up going. Maybe once the boys are a little bigger - we'll come for 4th of July.
