Hi Everyone! I’m Stephanie and I blog over at Slogan Adventures.
I have never really told “our story,” so I figured why not so more people could know what I blog about. My hubby is an electrical engineer and works for a large construction company out of the Midwest and he is in the power district that builds power plants. So when he comes home talking about conductors, transformers, cable, I basically nod my head and say OK! I really have no idea about power or electricity! But, it is pretty cool to see the plant and it really is amazing to watch it being built from the ground up, they are ginormous! We move all over to build plants and then when that plant is up and running, we move on to the next one. Since we move around every year and half or so, we love checking out and learning new things about the area that we live in. We love being tourists and I blog about all the fun stuff we get to see and give suggestions for people if they ever make it to that area on what to see and do.

We met while he was working in Canada and was living on the US side in my hometown. After dating only for a few months, he asked me to move with him. Six months later when they told him he would be moving to Tennessee for another job, I quit my corporate job, packed up my life, and hit the road with my future hubby and moved to Tennessee. A lot of people told me I would be back…I have never looked back, I married him and kept moving! Since that move, we have moved a few more times and finally staying put now until 2015 (well after next week) which is a good thing since we are expecting a baby girl in October! On top of that, we are in the same area as his family (which means help for this first time mommy), although we are 1,000 miles away from mine.
A life lesson I have definitely learned from never staying still in one place for too long is to NOT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. Everyone is already asking me what we are going to do when this job is up and we may have to move again, well we have until 2015 to figure it out, I’m not going to stress about the future because we need to focus on what we need now. I see families in this company move everywhere and all their kids are born in a different state, they do it just fine! Right now I’m grateful that my husband has a job, we are both healthy, as much as he drives me nuts sometimes we are madly in love, everything is healthy with baby girl, and we just bought a house that we love and are so excited to make our own! Yes, at times all this moving and not knowing what’s next drives me crazy! Perfect example, when we moved to Kansas City we were there for 4 weeks, on a Monday, we found out we were having a baby and Tuesday found out we were temporarily moving to Chicago, but we made the most of it and saw everything Chicago had to offer and did what would work for us and work for our marriage. If you don’t have a positive outlook it will drive you crazy. Flying back and forth for all my doctor’s appointments and sometimes spending the weeks apart while we were house hunting was not fun but we have Skype, FaceTime, and all these different technologies. It’s not ideal…but it was temporary.
So when everything seems to not be going right and gets you down, ask yourself and make a list of what you are grateful for. I like to do this around Thanksgiving time and when my pregnancy hormones put me in tailspin. Leave a comment below and tell me one thing you are grateful for today! Even if it’s that cup of coffee you drank this morning, it helps make the day better.
Come check out my blog on all of our fun adventures
